If you’re a low key traveller and still wish to feast your eyes on Mother Nature’s mystic and creativity – fret not, I’ve got just the place for you. Mahabaleshwar.
What started off as a result of strenuous classes and long hours of whiling away time led to one of the most spontaneous plans I’ve been a part of. Mahabaleshwar – the word sounds so desi, but he aura and splendor that greets you in this town is absolutely global. You can roam for hours on end on the roads of the city and I assure you that whenever you look up and take a moment to review your surroundings – you’ll find something picturesque greeting your eyes.
Mahabaleshwar is beauty personified. With the city being elevated by 1,353 m (4,439 ft) in height ; it seems to have made friends with the sky and the mountains around it. The way these elements fuse together to create a marvelous painting that only Nature could paint – you’re sure to get your money’s worth every time you breathe.
Mahabaleshwar is famous for the various points it harbors. These are nothing but small corners on a few selected hills which give you a different view of Mahabaleshwar; at every point. The highest point is the Bombay Point something we were too tired to visit after a day filled with trekking on Mahabaleshwar’s rocky terrains and walking with gay abandon. You should also try the natural produce Mahabaleshwar has to offer. Ranging from strawberries to raspberries to blueberries – you’re sure to find all the best berries of the world and at a price so cheap, it would put your local vegetable vendor to shame.
But don’t go by my words – rather look at the pictures the small town offered me to take. They speak volumes within themselves.
Oh yes. That, is Mahabaleshwar.
